The invited report of Prof. Guang-Bin Huang from NANYANG Technological University in Singapore is successfully held in the meeting room-202 in the School of Remote Sensing and Engineering of Wuhan University on 14:30 p.m. in 26/11/2016. Prof. Huang is inverted by the Computer Vision and Remote Sensing Laboratory (WHU-CVRS Lab). The topic of this report is “Extreme Learning Machines”. During the one and a half hour report, Prof. Huang, who is the founder of the Extreme Learning Machines (ELM) theory, firstly introduced the basic conceptions of the ELM theory and some applications of it on the recognition of handwriting characters, gesture recognition etc. Then Prof. Huang shared his deep understanding on the relationship between the fundamental mechanisms of artificial intelligence and the biological neural net. At the end of the presentation, Prof. Huang gave an outlook on the role of AI in the future intelligence society and answered the questions of the students. Students and professors from School of Remote Sensing and Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing attended this meeting.
